"Jazzercise is both therapeutic and fun! I feel like a million bucks after taking a Jazzercise class - especially when I've had a bad day or I'm under a lot of stress. After a workout, I tend to sleep better and make healthier food choices."

I used to be a couch potato...and I HATED to exercise! I would always find some excuse not to do it like, "It's too hot, it's too cold, it's raining, I gotta eat." Blah, blah, blah. I even made the excuse that it was "too far to drive" when my friend first wanted me to try Jazzercise! At the time, I lived in East Cobb and she lived in Gwinnett so really it was too far. But in 1998, when I weighed the most I'd ever weighed before, I decided that I HAD to do something. I worked full time as a RN so I understood the importance of exercise, but I just had not found a form of exercise that I really enjoyed doing. I had tried aerobics at a gym, but we did the same routine over and over so that got boring. I tried walking in my neighborhood, but that was lonely. I decided to join Weight Watchers and they really emphasized the importance of getting the body in motion. Then I found a coupon for Jazzercise in the mail so I called to find the nearest class. It turned out to be East Cobb Jazzercise at the Sports-A-Rama and I remember speaking to Cathy Mobley on the phone about the schedule. I went to my 1st class in February 1998 by myself (which I thought was pretty brave since I knew no one), joined on EFT so I could come as often as I wanted and the rest is history! I lost 35 pounds by August of that year and felt better than I had ever felt in my life! In fact, I loved Jazzercise so much that I became an instructor in December 2001. I loved teaching because I felt like I could help my students learn to feel as good about themselves as I felt about myself through good exercise habits. I taught for 1 1/2 years before I had to stop due to a high risk pregnancy that forced me to be on bed rest for an extended period of time. Even though I am busy with my baby right now I still come to Jazzercise twice a week for "my time." I have to have my Jazzercise or I get grumpy and my family does not like me when I'm a grouch! East Cobb Jazzercise offers an awesome positive atmosphere to work out in...fantastic instructors that motivate, inspire and challenge me...fun promos so I don't get bored...and friends so I don't get lonely! I LOVE to exercise!

In February 2004 I was diagnosed with Acute Mylogenic Leukemia, followed by 372 hours of chemotherapy. I knew in advance that this intense therapy could leave me with heart and lung damage. At the end of my treatment I was given a stress test and electrocardiogram, and was thankfully amazed to be told there was no damage. Thanks be to God, a wonderful oncologist and 11 years of Jazzercise, I am in remission with a healthy heart and back to the best exercise program in the world...JAZZERCISE!

Marci K.

Upon reaching “senior” status in society and as a 4+-year breast cancer survivor, I needed help! To strive for a healthier lifestyle, I joined a woman’s only fitness center (machine circuit type). One night, it closed its doors. I tried another one and realized I wasn’t motivated, didn’t like machines and did not want to sign a contract not knowing whether or not I would be able to use all of it considering health issues. A friend suggested Jazzercise. Her center was too far away so I went on-line for a closer one.
I called for directions and information expecting to hear a recorded message. To my surprise, after 10 PM on a Sunday night, Cathy Mobley, owner of East Cobb Jazzercise, answered the phone (what a personal touch). After explaining Jazzercise and inviting me to try it out, I was at the center the next morning. I was “hooked”. Now, after 4+ months and 100 classes, I can say by experience that the encouragement and support offered first through the owner of East Cobb Jazzercise, and then throughout all the instructors, registrars/class managers, and class participants, are phenomenal. I’m very grateful I found Jazzercise and the caring personnel in this center and I look forward to continuing to improve my physical condition through the fun of music and excellent, choreographed movement.

And more from Marci K as of September 6, 2006:
Jazzercise has made an important difference in my life, physically and mentally. I have had a wonderful, fun time learning how to move and dance again. After six months, I have attended 150 classes, lost 12 pounds and feel great. Thanks, Jazzercise!
