Thanks for the sweet and encouraging note commemorating my 100th class! 6 months ago i would find myself watching the clock in class while i gasped for breath trying not to faint!

It is your guidance, and FUN classes that have really motivated me the last 6 months...I feel so much better and stronger now. Today i told someone i am in the front of the class to watch your feet...which is partly true. A position in front helps to keep myself honest and working as hard as possible. In the back it is easier to slack off. ( at least for me)
It is fun to catch all your enthusiasm and really try to maintain your energetic pace. I am a different person from just a year ago. My breathing has improved and I seem to stand taller.
My clothes fit better, and I am in a better mood.

I leave each class with a sweaty smile on my face.( who ever thought i would actually enjoy sweating this much!) I love the music,
and can hardly believe it is me out there dancing! The choreography is becoming less intimidating and even more fun.

For the longest time i had to pinch myself to believe it; was i dreaming, or watching someone else doing all this? How can exercise be so great?

Jazzercise has really changed my life....

Pam W.

2008 was a time of quite a few firsts for me.  I was just hitting the 40 pound mark on what could only have been the 400th diet of my life.  You see I have probably hit that mark at least 10 times before.  However, this was only the halfway point on my journey.  I usually start feeling pretty good at that point and then ease up, slide back and then put the weight back on.  My previous exercise program was going from the couch to the refrigerator and back.  That was pretty much the entirety of my aerobic activity.  I have also joined every gym, bought every gimmick and tried every exercise program known to man.  I even had a treadmill in the bedroom that was the perfect height for hanging laundry.

However, and this is the part of the story where my life changed.  I had been going to a ladies exercise program in town three times a week and thought I was getting a good enough workout. I had a friend who had been asking me for months to come with her to try a Jazzercise class.  I didn’t think it would be my cup of tea because I am not very coordinated.  I went to the Jazzercise center she belongs to and really enjoyed myself. After my first Jazzercise class I realized I hadn’t even broken a sweat once working out at my current facility.  When I got home from that first Jazzercise class I felt like I had not only broken a sweat, I had to wring my shirt out in the sink, but I was able to follow the instructor.  I didn’t feel intimidated because there were people working at all levels, which made me immediately comfortable.

I found a center that was closer to my house…East Cobb Jazzercise!  Now this is when things started to get truly amazing.  I walked in, signed up and took my first class.  The energy at East Cobb Jazzercise is something that I have never experienced.  You can actually feel it when you walk in.  I started coming to class four times a week and each class, although taught by different instructors, had the same level of energy.  As the weeks and months went by I found myself making Jazzercise a priority in my schedule.  I also found that I was inching closer and closer to my weight loss goal. I wanted to push myself so I signed up for Personal Touch and met with one of my instructors for 30 minutes twice a week in addition to my four classes a week.  Personal training taught me more about how to get the most out of my exercising both during training, but also during class.  I was also starting to feel more confident in my abilities and what I could accomplish.

As for the firsts…Well, I reached my goal weight in February 2008 and in February 2009 I will be celebrating my one year anniversary of keeping the weight off.  I took over 200 hours of Jazzercise in 2008.  I marched in the East Cobber Parade with my Jazzercise compatriots.  I signed up for the Jazzerthon in February.  And all this from a 48 year old who was a couch potato for 46 years.

So not only have I re-shaped my body, but I find myself clearing my head, releasing my stress and smiling throughout each and every class.

Thank you East Cobb Jazzercise!

I used to be a couch potato...and I HATED to exercise! I would always find some excuse not to do it like, "It's too hot, it's too cold, it's raining, I gotta eat." Blah, blah, blah. I even made the excuse that it was "too far to drive" when my friend first wanted me to try Jazzercise! At the time, I lived in East Cobb and she lived in Gwinnett so really it was too far. But in 1998, when I weighed the most I'd ever weighed before, I decided that I HAD to do something. I worked full time as a RN so I understood the importance of exercise, but I just had not found a form of exercise that I really enjoyed doing. I had tried aerobics at a gym, but we did the same routine over and over so that got boring. I tried walking in my neighborhood, but that was lonely. I decided to join Weight Watchers and they really emphasized the importance of getting the body in motion. Then I found a coupon for Jazzercise in the mail so I called to find the nearest class. It turned out to be East Cobb Jazzercise at the Sports-A-Rama and I remember speaking to Cathy Mobley on the phone about the schedule. I went to my 1st class in February 1998 by myself (which I thought was pretty brave since I knew no one), joined on EFT so I could come as often as I wanted and the rest is history! I lost 35 pounds by August of that year and felt better than I had ever felt in my life! In fact, I loved Jazzercise so much that I became an instructor in December 2001. I loved teaching because I felt like I could help my students learn to feel as good about themselves as I felt about myself through good exercise habits. I taught for 1 1/2 years before I had to stop due to a high risk pregnancy that forced me to be on bed rest for an extended period of time. Even though I am busy with my baby right now I still come to Jazzercise twice a week for "my time." I have to have my Jazzercise or I get grumpy and my family does not like me when I'm a grouch! East Cobb Jazzercise offers an awesome positive atmosphere to work out in...fantastic instructors that motivate, inspire and challenge me...fun promos so I don't get bored...and friends so I don't get lonely! I LOVE to exercise!

In February 2004 I was diagnosed with Acute Mylogenic Leukemia, followed by 372 hours of chemotherapy. I knew in advance that this intense therapy could leave me with heart and lung damage. At the end of my treatment I was given a stress test and electrocardiogram, and was thankfully amazed to be told there was no damage. Thanks be to God, a wonderful oncologist and 11 years of Jazzercise, I am in remission with a healthy heart and back to the best exercise program in the world...JAZZERCISE!

Upon reaching ?senior? status in society and as a 4+-year breast cancer survivor, I needed help! To strive for a healthier lifestyle, I joined a woman?s only fitness center (machine circuit type). One night, it closed its doors. I tried another one and realized I wasn?t motivated, didn?t like machines and did not want to sign a contract not knowing whether or not I would be able to use all of it considering health issues. A friend suggested Jazzercise. Her center was too far away so I went on-line for a closer one.
I called for directions and information expecting to hear a recorded message. To my surprise, after 10 PM on a Sunday night, Cathy Mobley, owner of East Cobb Jazzercise, answered the phone (what a personal touch). After explaining Jazzercise and inviting me to try it out, I was at the center the next morning. I was ?hooked?. Now, after 4+ months and 100 classes, I can say by experience that the encouragement and support offered first through the owner of East Cobb Jazzercise, and then throughout all the instructors, registrars/class managers, and class participants, are phenomenal. I?m very grateful I found Jazzercise and the caring personnel in this center and I look forward to continuing to improve my physical condition through the fun of music and excellent, choreographed movement.

And more from Marci K as of September 6, 2006:
Jazzercise has made an important difference in my life, physically and mentally. I have had a wonderful, fun time learning how to move and dance again. After six months, I have attended 150 classes, lost 12 pounds and feel great. Thanks, Jazzercise!

Most of you probably know I have a degenerative condition, and the treatment is to stay very active, coupled with medication and the correct diet for the condition.

Jazzercise has truly helped me hold it together. In the last 8 weeks, I
used the program to rehabilitate my knee after corrective surgery, and
am doing very well, back at my usual pace now.

For many people it is a great exercise program. I just LOVE to dance.....the benefit from exercise is a bonus.
